Minecon Capes (2011–2016)
The Minecon capes are the rarest items in all of Minecraft. Each year from 2011 to 2016, attendees of the annual Minecon convention received an exclusive cape. These capes are permanently tied to the accounts of attendees and cannot be transferred.
- Minecon 2011 Cape — Green creeper design. Given to attendees of the first-ever Minecon in Las Vegas. Estimated fewer than 3,000 in existence.
- Minecon 2012 Cape — Iron pickaxe design. Distributed at Minecon in Paris, France.
- Minecon 2013 Cape — Piston design. Given at Minecon in Orlando, Florida.
- Minecon 2015 Cape — Iron block/shield design. Distributed at Minecon in London, England.
- Minecon 2016 Cape — Enderman eyes design. The last physical Minecon event cape, given in Anaheim, California.
Migration Cape
The migration cape is a purple-and-gold design awarded to players who migrated their legacy Mojang account to a Microsoft account. It was one of the most widely distributed capes in Minecraft history.

- How obtained: Migrating a Mojang account to Microsoft
- Still available? The migration deadline has passed. Some accounts may still show the option — check your Minecraft profile at minecraft.net.
Vanilla Cape
The Vanilla Cape is available in Minecraft Bedrock Edition through the character creator. It features the classic Minecraft grass block color palette.

- How obtained: Free through the Bedrock Edition character creator (Dressing Room)
- Still available? Yes — anyone on Bedrock can equip this for free right now.
Cherry Blossom Cape
Released alongside the Trails & Tales update (1.20), the Cherry Blossom cape is one of the most visually stunning capes in the game.
- Design: Pink cherry blossom petal pattern on a soft pink background
- How obtained: Given to players during the Trails & Tales promotional period
- Still available? The original promotion has ended, but accounts with this cape are included in our giveaways.
Pancape
The Pancape (also known as the Pancake Cape) is a fun, food-themed cape that was distributed through a Minecraft promotional event.
- Design: A stack of pancakes with butter and syrup
- How obtained: Claimed through a limited-time promotion on minecraft.net

15th Anniversary Cape
Released in 2024 to celebrate Minecraft's 15th anniversary, this cape was available to all players who logged in during the celebration period.
- Design: "15" emblem with a festive gold-and-green color scheme
- How obtained: Logging into Minecraft during the 15th anniversary event in May 2024
- Still available? The event has ended. The cape remains on accounts that claimed it during the event window.
Minecraft Live Capes
Mojang has distributed exclusive capes during annual Minecraft Live streams. Each year features a unique design.
- Minecraft Live 2022 Cape — Given to viewers who watched the livestream with a linked Microsoft account
- Minecraft Live 2023 Cape — Featured a unique design distributed via Twitch Drops
- Minecraft Live 2024 Cape — The most recent Minecraft Live cape
To claim future Minecraft Live capes, make sure your Microsoft account is linked to Twitch before the event starts.
